Sui Generis launches green tea products

IMPHAL, DEC 4: Manipur based Sui Generis, a pioneer company in making green tea which also aims to promote green industrial revolution, has formally started to introduce their green tea products during a formal press conference at its corporate office at Kwakeithel Lamdong Leikai in Imphal today.
“We have a product called Sui Generis CC tea which is accepted in the market world wide,” says the chairman cum managing director Ragesh Keisham adding that the product which has medicinal values helps many in relieving from their health ailments.

Narrating on how they discovered the properties of the grass, the young CMD added, “A friend brought Cymbopogon Citatus (commonly known as lemon grass or oil grass) from Indonesia to make oil. But it didn’t work.” “Finally we’ve started to experiment it as a kind of beverage after reading an article and subsequent failed attempts,” Ragesh, a Masters Degree holder in Business Administration said.
Now our green tea called CC Tea become a popular beverage among its loyal consumers inside and outside the state as it helps relieve constipation, poor digestion, stomach aches, gas, bowel spasms and diarrhea etc, he claimed. Annually India contributes about 23 percent share in the global tea market of around 46 million tones of tea.
And the demand of green tea is more than the supply. We’re even getting demands from USA and other European countries, says the young CMD. We produced 3000 packets against the demand of 6000 packets (each packet contains 200 gm green tea costing Rs 198).
To meet the demands, the firm had started its own plantation (Cymbopogon Citatus) in an area of 25 acres in Imphal east district and encouraging results has motivated them for further expansion of the plantation which can generate tremendous job opportunities among the rural masses. Thus a land measuring about 75 acres has been acquired for further plantation, he added.
Presently his company which provides direct and indirect employment to around 500 individuals across the state, managed to occupy cover 2 percent of the state’s tea market by introducing the CC tea made from Cymbopogon Citatus. “To us, business is not about money but generating more employment,” he felt. The company which plans to bring out hair oil, shampoo, face washes, washing soap etc in future, also launched its tea bags during a simple gathering.
